Double Glazed Units
We supply a full and extensive range of bespoke double glazed units with a current lead-time or around 7-10 days.
Types of double glazed units
Double glazed units come in many forms, either float (untoughened), toughened, laminated and with a standard thikness of 4mm glass to both sides but 6mm thickness can be ordered.
Double glazed units range in overall thickness depths to suit the application. They range from 14mm (4/6/4) through to 32mm (6/20/6). We can also supply triple glazed units where desired.
Spacer bars (the bar that separates the two panes) come in a variety of colours and types. Warm edge spacer bars (in black and white) are generally used in more modern/new build homes to help reduce the overall U-Value of the double glazed unit. Older / more traditional properties and replacement double glazed units will use an aluminium spacer bar in either silver, gold or bronze.
The inside pane in modern applications would use a softcoat pane / planitherm / low emissive glass to again help reduce the overall U-Value and also to alleviate some glare. It will also help to keep the house warmer in winter. Units are generally Argon filled nowadays as standard to also help with heat retention.
Double glazed units can also be obscured to the inside pane for privacy in bathrooms and on doors. We use the Pilkington patterns which provide a variety of modern and traditional designs to suit any home.
All our double glazed units come without tape wrapped around the edges to give a clean finish much desired by Joinery companies. Units can also be made with Georgian bars / grids in a variety of colours.
